Usaha Tegas Heritage (UTH) Art Competition 2025 🎨🏆

The Usaha Tegas Heritage Art Competition, often regarded as the “Oscars of the Malaysian Art Scene,” successfully held its 2025 award ceremony on Tuesday, 11 November 2025, at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Kuala Lumpur. This prestigious national competition attracted outstanding art and design students from renowned institutions across Malaysia. Besides Southern University College, participating institutions included the University of Malaya (UM), National University of Malaysia (UKM), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS), Malaysian Institute of Art (MIA), Dasein Academy of Art, Equator College, Aswara, and many others .

The competition highlights Malaysia’s rich cultural heritage through hand-drawn artworks, encouraging participants to explore the nation’s colours, traditions, and patriotic spirit . Categories included Mixed Media, Watercolour, Oil/Acrylic, Charcoal/Pencil/Ink, and Printmaking , with judging based on creativity, composition, thematic interpretation, and technical execution.

S’ng Zheng Fei, a student under the guidance of Assistant Professor Mr. Ng Chee Fong, Head of the Department of Art at the Faculty of Art and Design, Southern University College , received a Consolation Prize in the Mixed Media category for his artwork “Peranakan in Pixels”. This achievement reflects the strong creative training and professional excellence consistently nurtured at Southern University College .

被誉为 “马来西亚艺术界奥斯卡” 的 Usaha Tegas Heritage 艺术大赛于 2025 年 11 月 11 日（星期二） 在 吉隆坡文华东方酒店 圆满举行颁奖典礼。这项享誉全国的艺术赛事吸引了来自马来西亚多所知名高等学府的优秀艺术与设计系学生参与。除了南方大学学院之外，参赛院校还包括马来亚大学（UM）、国立大学（UKM）、理科大学（USM）、玛拉工艺大学（UiTM）、沙巴大学（UMS）、马来西亚艺术学院（MIA）、Dasein Academy of Art、Equator College、Aswara 等等 。

本次比赛以手绘艺术作品呈现马来西亚丰富的文化遗产，鼓励参赛者以色彩、传统与爱国精神为灵感，探索国家独特的文化魅力 。比赛类别涵盖混合媒介、水彩、油画／压克力、炭笔／铅笔／墨水绘画以及版画创作，评审标准包括创意、构图、主题诠释与技法表现等方面。

在艺术与设计学院艺术系主任 吴志方助理教授的指导下，南方大学学院学生 孙正飞（S’ng Zheng Fei） 凭借其混合媒介作品 《Peranakan in Pixels》 荣获混合媒介组 安慰奖 ，充分展现了南方大学学院在艺术教育中对创意培养与专业卓越的持续坚持与投入 。
