(A) ATTENDANCE REGISTRATION

Step 1: Online registration for attendance of convocation

All graduates are required to complete the online attendance form:
• Visit Southern UC’s website https://www.southern.edu.my/ →Campus Life → Convocation
• Login to G-Form and register

Step 2 : Graduation Message for Convocation Ceremony

Graduands can dedicate ONE short message to their parents/friends/lecturers during the convocation ceremony. The message will be displayed on the screen while you are on the stage to receive your scroll. We encourage all graduands to write a message to express their appreciation to their parents/friends/lecturers.

Notes:
(1) Southern UC reserves the right to edit the messages, reject any indecent messages and not to display the messages without further notice.
(2) Late submission of message will not be accepted.

Step 3 : Convocation Gown’s Deposit (Diploma, Bachelor, Master & PhD programmes only)

Graduands (excluding Foundation Students) shall rent the Convocation Gown and make a deposit payment to the Account & Finance Office before collecting the gown.

  • The softcopy of the official receipt will be sent to the graduands by email.
  • Graduands are required to provide the softcopy of the official receipt upon collecting the convocation gown from Student Affairs Office.

Step 4: Southern UC Alumni Surveys

All graduands are required to complete the survey.

Step 5: Affiliate Member

All alumni who graduate in 2025 will automatically become affiliated members of the Alumni Association of Southern University College for free of charge. The purpose of this is to create a networking platform and create business relationships for members of the same background. Members will enjoy the following benefits and get to participate in various activities. This Affiliate Membership is valid for 10 years.

  • Gown Size: On a first come first served basis
  • The graduation gown can be collected on behalf of someone.
  • Graduands are not allowed to change the size. Thus, please ensure your size is correct upon collecting the
    Convocation Gown (Sizes will be shown according to the height)
  • Each graduand will be provided with TWO (2) entry tickets only (NO EXTRA ticket will be given).
  • ONLY THREE (3) persons (all above 12 years old) are allowed for the entire convocation ceremony including the graduand.

Note: • RM10 will be charged for the delay per working day

Remark:
若有损坏或遗失,须承担全额赔偿费用:文凭袍和学士袍RM500、硕士袍RM700、博士袍RM1000。
In the event of loss or damage, the full replacement cost will be charged: RM500 for diploma and bachelor’s gowns, RM700 for master’s gowns, and RM1,000 for doctoral gowns.

Step 3: Refund of Convocation Gown’s Deposit

The deposit of RM300 will be refunded by online transfer to student’s personal account within 6 weeks after the convocation ceremony.

(C) DRESS CODE

 

    a) Diploma graduates:

- Dark-coloured long pants

   c) Foundation graduates are required to wear a dark-coloured suit/coat to attend the ceremony (you may rent the suit from us on the date of gown collection based on the first-come-first-served principle).

   d) Slippers, sandals, T-shirts, crop tops, low cut tops and short pants are strictly prohibited.

(D) DURING CONVOCATION CEREMONY

1) LINING-UP ROOM
a) You are required to assemble at the specified classroom at 7.30am-7.45pm before entering the Dato’ Seri Joseph Chong Hall. Kindly be punctual (latecomers will not be entertained).
b) The classrooms will be announced on 25 June 2025 (Wednesday).

2) Reminder:
a) Graduates must not bring along personal belongings into the hall. Family members are allowed to bring flowers and other belongings to the hall. Kindly switch your mobile phone to silent mode to avoid any interruption.
b) After receiving the certificate’s cover, graduates are required to go back to their seat until the end of the ceremony.
c) No personal photographer is allowed to enter the ceremony. All attendees should remain in their seats during the ceremony.
d) Graduates may proceed to their photo-taking and flower-presenting session after the end of the ceremony.

(E) IMPORTANT NOTES OF THE CONVOCATION CEREMONY:

1) Attendance per family at the 34th Southern UC Convocation is limited to 3 persons, including the graduand.
2) No extra ticket will be given for entering the ceremony.
3) Children under the age of 13 are not allowed to enter the ceremony.
