Southern University College is located in the heart of Johor Bahru, the southern gateway to Peninsular Malaysia as well as the Iskandar Development Region(IDR). The development region is set to become the most developed region in Southern Peninsular Malaysia.
The vibrant development of Iskandar Development Corridor as well as its favourable economic environment has been attracting multinational businesses from all over the world to invest here. Hence, there is an exciting influx of foreign and high-level corporate investments in this region as investors seek opportunities to benefit from its vibrant growth.
With the business community’s growing demand and need for informed and effective management personnel and entrepreneurs, the Faculty of Business and Management, Southern University College’s largest and fastest growing faculty, is building on its well-established undergraduate programmes with the launch of the general MBA programme. The MBA programme aims to produce business leaders who can understand the dynamics, strengths and weaknesses of the local business environment. Not only that, students will be trained to address the issues that can arise from the local businesses. The complementary aspects between Oriental and Western management styles will be an area of focus.
The MBA programme prepares business leaders, entrepreneurs and managers with professional training in sound general management principles and specialized fields. As a start the Faculty will offer a general MBA programme and in the future, there are in the pipeline three Master of Business Administration degrees specializing in:
1. Finance
2. International Business
3. Marketing
2. International Business
3. Marketing
In line with the rapid development of the Iskandar region of Johor, Malaysia, coupled with the increasing influx of foreign investment and close proximity to Singapore, the MBA programme will adopt the regional as well as global perspective in its design of the programme structure, curricula and teaching pedagogy.
Southern University College will be placing strategically well-trained and prepared business leaders, entrepreneurs and managers at all levels, ready for the challenges of the 21st century.
Uniqueness of the Programme
An outstanding feature of the Southern MBA is that it is tailored to address the SMEs’ increasing needs for senior managers and executives with local orientation and yet with a wider outlook to the Asia-Pacific region. The programme intends to train entrepreneurs in their own right and promote SMEs in the region. Another unique feature of the Southern MBA is that students from the Asia-Pacific region will be given a deeper understanding of international business with a focus on oriental and cross cultural management. Management principles and practices acquired from the West could well be supplemented and enhanced by knowledge and understanding from the East.
