Within the domain of Sinology, the Department of Chinese Studies teaches and researches the ancient Chinese language, the modern Chinese language, literature, history and philosophy. At the same time, it breaks away from convention by introducing a couple of new subjects, such as Malaysian Literature, Chinese Dialect Communities, Southeast Asian Culture, Post-Colonial Culture, and Comparative Literature. Through specialised training, students will be equipped with excellent thinking and analytical skills, precise language application abilities, and a high level of humanistic qualities that will allow them to excel in the realm of academics and related professions.
