On January 7, 2025, the Faculty of Art and Design at Southern University College was honored to be authorized to host the on-campus award ceremony for the Times Young Creative Award. The event also marked the announcement of the school winning the “Best School” accolade in this competition. The Faculty of Art and Design delivered an outstanding performance in this international competition, winning 11 prestigious awards and standing out among over 100,000 global entries to become a major winner from overseas.
The award ceremony took place in the 2A Lecture Hall at Southern University College, with special guests including Chairman of Board of Directors, Dato’ Vincent Tan Meng Seng, Board Members, Mr. Yap Eng San and Mr. Foo Suan Soo, University President Prof. Ir. Ts. Dr. Chuah Joon Huang, and Vice President Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chan Sai Keong, who served as award presenters to witness this remarkable moment. During the ceremony, the Dean of the Faculty of Art and Design, Asst. Prof. Ts . Dr. Teo Pei Kian provided a detailed introduction to the history and background of the Times Young Creative Award and its connection with Southern University College. The Dean also shared the university’s exceptional achievements in the competition. Meanwhile, Senior Lecturer Yew Leong Fei, who mentored the most award-winning students, and two students—Tan Wee Xuan and Lau Hui Hui, who won the highest awards—recalled their experiences and feelings from the October award ceremony in Chengdu, showcasing the remarkable talents of both faculty and students on the international stage.

With this achievement, the faculty further solidified its leading position in the global creative industry.
