On 12 February 2026, Southern University College and Sheraton Johor Bahru officially marked a meaningful collaboration through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and Memorandum of Agreement (MOA).
The agreements were signed by Prof. Ir. Ts. Dr. Chuah Joon Huang, President of Southern University College, and Mr. Vikas Malik, General Manager of Sheraton Johor Bahru, symbolising a shared commitment to fostering experiential learning and industry engagement.
This collaboration provides students from the Faculty of Art & Design with the opportunity to participate in a real-world mural painting project within a professional hospitality environment. The initiative reflects a strong partnership that integrates artistic practice, research, and project execution in a commercial setting — enhancing students’ creative competencies and professional readiness.
Representing Southern UC at the signing ceremony held at Sheraton Johor Bahru were Prof. Ir. Ts. Dr. Chuah Joon Huang, President of Southern UC; Asst. Prof. Ts. Dr. Teo Pei Kian, Dean of the Faculty of Art & Design; Ong Ei Lin, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Art & Design; Asst. Prof. Ng Chee Fong, Head of Department of Visual Art; and Mr. Lok How Yuan, Specialist of the Faculty of Art & Design.
