“Preserving Traditions, Inspiring Generations”

Two lecturers from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Science, Ms Lah Wan Yee and Asst. Prof. Dr. Bambang Suhartono Bin Mohd Said, led a documentation project in collaboration with students from the Bachelor of Communication (Honours) (Mass Communication) program for Pesta Gelang Patah, a Chinese New Year festival organized by Pejabat Ahli Parlimen Iskandar Puteri on 28 February 2026.

The team produced a short documentary highlighting how Gelang Patah’s local communities preserve traditional heritage, cultural practices, and historical sites. Featuring interviews with residents and community leaders, the documentary showcased stories of intergenerational transmission of customs and the safeguarding of local history.

Through careful research, planning, and creative storytelling, the project portrayed Gelang Patah as a living cultural landscape where traditions thrive alongside modern development. Beyond festival coverage, it emphasized cultural continuity, community unity, and collective memory.

This initiative reflects the Faculty’s commitment to applied media production and community engagement. YB Liew Chin Tong, Member of Parliament for Iskandar Puteri, praised the team for creating a quality documentary that celebrates cultural heritage while positioning Gelang Patah as a vibrant, tradition-preserving community.

人文与社会科学学院的两位讲师，林婉仪高级讲师兼新闻与传播系主任与助理教授班邦·苏哈托诺，受委任带领一项纪录片制作项目，配合 2026年2月28日 由依斯干达公主城国会议员办公室主办的振林山《新春逛老街》春节庆典，同时与大众传播（荣誉）学士课程的学生共同参与。

团队制作了一部迷你纪录片，展示振林山当地社区如何保护传统遗产、文化习俗及历史遗址。纪录片通过采访居民和社区领袖，呈现了风俗习惯的代际传承及地方历史的守护故事。

通过细致研究、周密策划与创意叙事，项目成功呈现振林山作为一个“活的文化景观”，在现代发展中传统依然蓬勃发展。纪录片不仅记录节庆活动，还强调文化延续、社区团结与集体记忆的重要性。

这一项目体现了学院在应用媒体制作及社区参与方面的承诺。YB刘镇东，依斯干达公主城国会议员暨柔佛柏岭州议员，对团队的努力表示感谢，并赞扬他们制作出高质量纪录片，不仅庆祝文化遗产，也将振林山呈现为一个充满活力、兼顾传统传承的社区。
