Fostering Educational Collaboration, Building a Safe School Environment

On October 18, 2025, from 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM, the Department of Psychology and Counselling, Southern University College was honoured to be invited to Foon Yew High School, Seri Alam to conduct an inspiring Administrative Team Building and Capacity Enhancement Training for the school’s leadership team.

The session was led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Chua Yee Chii, who served as the keynote speaker and engaged in in-depth discussions and meaningful interactions with the school’s educators. The atmosphere was enthusiastic and productive, with teachers actively contributing feedback.

Two key training needs were highlighted:

• Enhancing awareness of school bullying and sexual harassment among both teachers and students

• Strengthening counselling skills and professional competence in handling related cases

This meaningful collaboration not only contributed professional expertise to teacher development but also deepened the ties between Southern University College and Foon Yew High School, laying a solid foundation for future educational partnership initiatives.

Moving forward, the Department of Psychology and Counselling will continue to leverage its strengths by providing relevant workshops and training programs to support schools in creating a safe, healthy, and caring learning environment, with a particular focus on the holistic development and well-being of teachers and students.

Because we believe that education is not just about knowledge transmission — it is also about safeguarding safety and respect.

教师们积极反馈，提出了以下关键培训需求：

提升教师与学生对校园欺凌与性骚扰问题的认知

加强教师处理相关个案的辅导技巧与专业能力
