“Foon Yew Village · Southern Perseverance” Torch Relay

   

Zhong Yong 《中庸》 says, “To show forbearance and gentleness in teaching others; and not to revenge unreasonable conduct – this is the energy of southern regions, and the good man makes it his study.”

In celebration of the 50th Anniversary of Southern University College, the “Foon Yew Village · Southern Perseverance” Torch Relay was ignited this morning in front of the Library of Foon Yew High School, Johor Bahru, and arrived at Southern University College at noon, symbolising the unbroken legacy of the Foon Yew Village.

In 1975, Foon Yew High School established its Advanced Studies; in 1990, it was officially registered as “Southern College”; in 1996, Southern College relocated to its present campus; and in 2012, it was upgraded to Southern University College. Over fifty years, it has continued to grow and flourish.

Today’s Torch Relay represents the passing down of the flame of education from generation to generation, illuminating the path forward, and bearing witness to the inseparable bond between Foon Yew and Southern, where the flame never ceases to burn.

南方大学学院创校五十周年校庆《宽柔学村·南方自强》火炬行，今早在新山宽柔中学庄新培图书楼前点燃火炬，于中午12点抵达南方大学学院，象征着宽柔学村的一脉相承。

1975年，宽柔中学成立专科部；1990年，以“南方学院”获准注册；1996年，南方学院正式迁入现今校区；2012年，南方升格为大学学院，已历经五十载。今天的火炬行，象征教育薪火代代相传，照亮前行之路，也见证宽柔与南方血脉相连、薪火不断。
