FEIT Postgraduate Student Wins Technologically Advanced Innovation Award at AYLPOS 2025

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Mr. William Kwong Fook Chen, a postgraduate student from the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology (FEIT), on his outstanding achievement.

Mr. William Kwong Fook Chen, a Master of Engineering Science (by Research) candidate, was selected as a recipient of the Palm Oil Innovation Challenge – Special Award, under the category of The Most Technologically Advanced Innovation Award. The award was presented during the ASEAN Youth Leaders in Palm Oil Sustainability (AYLPOS 2025) programme, held on 10 December 2025 at the Auditorium Akademia Siber Teknopolis, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM).

AYLPOS is organised by the MPOB–UKM Endowment Chair in collaboration with the Council of Palm Oil Producing Countries (CPOPC), and jointly organised by the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) and the Ministry of Plantation and Commodities. The programme serves as a strategic platform to promote regional cooperation among ASEAN students, with the aim of capacity building, fostering youth leadership, and enhancing awareness of sustainability within the palm oil industry.

The Palm Oil Innovation Challenge received a total of 78 submissions from ASEAN member countries, as well as participants from Bangladesh, Papua New Guinea, Pakistan, Cambodia, and Japan. Mr. William’s research project demonstrated exceptional originality and strong practical potential, aligning closely with the objectives of the competition, which led to his selection for the Special Award.

邝福权为工程科学硕士研究生，成功荣获棕榈油创新挑战赛（Palm Oil Innovation Challenge）特别奖——“最具科技先进性创新奖”。该奖项于2025年12月10日在马来西亚国民大学学术城科技学院大礼堂举行的“2025年东盟青年棕榈油可持续发展领袖计划（ASEAN Youth Leaders in Palm Oil Sustainability, AYLPOS 2025）”活动中颁发。

AYLPOS 2025 由马来西亚棕榈油局—国民大学（MPOB–UKM）捐赠讲座主办，并与棕榈油生产国理事会（CPOPC）合作，同时获得马来西亚棕榈油局（MPOB）及种植与原产业部（Ministry of Plantation and Commodities）联合举办。该计划为一项具战略意义的区域性平台，旨在促进东盟青年学生之间的合作，强化能力建设，培育青年领袖，并提升对棕榈油产业可持续发展的认知与重视。

本届棕榈油创新挑战赛共收到78项参赛作品，参赛者不仅来自东盟国家，亦包括孟加拉、巴布亚新几内亚、巴基斯坦、柬埔寨及日本等国家。邝福权同学的研究项目在原创性、技术先进性及应用潜能方面表现突出，与竞赛宗旨高度契合，最终脱颖而出，荣获特别奖项。
