“Belt and Road Traditional Chinese Medicine Development Alliance” Presidents Forum

Southern University College President Prof. Ir. Ts. Dr. Chuah Joon Huang and Dean of the Faculty of Chinese Medicine Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lim Juat Hong attended the “Belt and Road Traditional Chinese Medicine Development Alliance” Presidents Forum, held at The Chinese University of Hong Kong on 18 July. In his address, President Dr. Chuah highlighted Southern University College’s achievements in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) education and clinical practice, emphasizing the Belt and Road Initiative’s role in promoting TCM. TCM is regarded not only as a healthcare resource but also as a cultural bridge. Future development requires harmonising standards across borders, ensuring clinical validation, and integrating TCM into national health systems, supported by AI, digitalization, and international collaboration.
The 2025 Belt and Road Alliance for Traditional Chinese Medicine Presidents’ Forum brought together presidents and representatives from over 30 institutions across mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao, and Belt and Road countries to discuss strategies for advancing the internationalization and modernization of TCM. With more than 400 participants from over 60 organizations, the forum demonstrated strong support across sectors for the innovative development of TCM and its contribution to global health and well-being.
