TV Show Pitch Presentation

On 26 August 2025, students from the Bachelor of Communication (Honours) (Mass Communication) programme at the Department of Journalism and Communication Studies, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Southern University College, presented their TV Show Pitch as part of the TV Studies subject.

Earlier in the semester, the students were challenged to form virtual media production agencies and assume different professional roles such as director, scripter, videographer, and editor. Over several weeks of preparation, they worked collaboratively to conceptualize and design brand-new TV show ideas. The task emphasized creativity, teamwork, and practical application of media production skills.

Aligned with the spirit of Merdeka Day, the TV show pitches reflected themes of patriotism and the beauty of Malaysia, showcasing students’ ability to integrate cultural values into innovative media content.

The pitching session was honoured by the presence of two distinguished industry judges:

  • Puan Norazian Binte Pasiran, Scriptwriter at Mediacorp, Singapore
  • Encik Muhammad Shah Bin Saron, Ketua PROFIMA Cawangan Selatan

Both judges provided constructive feedback, commending the students’ creativity, effort, and professionalism while also offering valuable insights into the media production industry.

In his opening speech, Prof. ChM. Dr. Leong Loong Kong, Vice President of Southern University College, emphasized that this initiative serves as astrong example of outcome-based learning. He highlighted that such hands-on projects not only strengthen students’ understanding of media production but also enhance their exposure to real-world industry expectations.

The lecturers from the Department of Journalism and Communication Studies also played a key role in guiding and coaching the students throughout the semester, ensuring that the project maintained both academic and industry relevance.

Overall, the TV Show Pitch session was a success, demonstrating the students’ creativity, teamwork, and professional growth. It also underlined Southern University College’s commitment to providing experiential learning opportunities that bridge academic knowledge with industry practice.

2025年8月26日,来自南方大学学院人文与社会科学学院新闻与传播学系大众传播(荣誉)学士课程的学生,在电视研究课程中进行了电视节目提案展示。

在本学期初,学生们被要求组成虚拟媒体制作公司,并分别担任导演、编剧、摄影师及剪辑师等不同的专业角色。经过数周的努力,他们合作策划并设计了全新的电视节目概念。该项目特别强调创造力、团队合作以及媒体制作的实际应用。

配合国庆日的氛围,本次提案展示以爱国精神与马来西亚之美为主题,充分展现了学生们将文化价值融入创新媒体内容的能力。

本次展示活动也很荣幸邀请到两位业界资深评审:

  • Encik Muhammad Shah Bin Saron,马来西亚电影、电视和多媒体专业人士协会(PROFIMA)南部分会主席

在开幕致辞中,南方大学学院副校长梁龙光教授强调,本项目是成果导向学习的良好典范。他指出,这类实践型项目不仅能加深学生对媒体制作的理解,同时也为他们提供了接触真实行业环境的机会。新闻与传播学系的讲师们也在整个学期中积极指导学生,确保项目兼具学术价值与行业相关性。

总体而言,本次电视节目提案展示取得了圆满成功,充分展现了学生的创意、团队精神与专业成长。同时,这也再次彰显了南方大学学院致力于提供结合学术与产业实践的体验式学习机会的教育理念。
