Southern University College Representatives Hold a Warm Meeting with Mr. Tai Boon Kong

Datuk Seri Teo Shiok Fu JP, Deputy Chairman of Board of Directors together with Prof. Ir. Ts. Dr. Chuah Joon Huang, President of Southern University College warmly met with Mr. Tai Boon Kong, a key administrative member during the early founding years of the institution, lyricist of the Southern University College anthem, and a respected educator and cultural figure with long-standing contributions to Chinese education and literature.

During the get-together, Datuk Seri Teo and Prof. Chuah presented Mr. Tai with the congratulatory letter and commemorative frame prepared for Malaysian singer-songwriter Ms. Penny Tai in recognition of her achievement in winning Best Original Film Song at the 62nd Golden Horse Awards for Bhujanga (Mother Bhumi) directed by Mr. Chong Keat Aun. Ms. Penny Tai also received the Third Southern University College Distinguished Alumni Award in 2020, and her artistic accomplishments continue to be a source of pride for Southern University College.

During the conversation, Mr. Tai shared fond memories of joining the temporary campus in 1991, recalling the early days of the institution and the challenges of “building from scratch.” He contributed significantly in administrative and general affairs roles and enriched the local cultural and literary landscape through his literary works.

Prof. Chuah expressed sincere appreciation for Mr. Tai’s long-standing contributions to Chinese education, literature, and the development of Southern University College, and reaffirmed the commitment to continue upholding the values and legacy of its early pioneers while advancing education and cultural missions.

南方大学学院署理董事长拿督斯里张学富太平局绅及校长蔡润煌教授与戴文光先生友好会面。戴文光先生是南院草创时期的重要行政成员、南院校歌作词者，也是长期深耕华教与华文文学的资深教育与文化工作者。

此次会面中，校长代表学校向戴文光先生转交本校致予歌手戴佩妮的贺状纪念画框，以表达我校对她凭借作品《布秧》（电影《地母》主题曲）荣获第62届金马奖“最佳原创电影歌曲”之成就的衷心祝贺。歌手戴佩妮亦曾于2020年荣获 “南方大学学院第三届杰出校友奖” ，其艺术成就一直是南方大学学院的荣耀。

交流过程中，戴文光先生也分享了他自1991 年加入南院临时校舍服务的点滴，以及早期创校阶段“从零开始”的艰辛与共同奋斗。他曾在行政与总务岗位上为南院发展贡献心力，从事文学创作，丰富了本地文化与文艺界。

蔡润煌教授对戴文光先生多年来在华教、文学创作与南院发展中的贡献致以诚挚谢意，并表示学校将继续秉承前辈们的价值与精神，持续推动教育与文化使命。
