Mervin Tan Wei Hong, a current master’s student from the Department of Chinese Studies at Southern University College, was invited to participate in the Learn On-The-Go event of the National Training Week (NTW), organized by the Ministry of Human Resources Malaysia. The event was held on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at AEON Tebrau City Mall, Johor Bahru. During the event, he shared the charm and knowledge of Chinese calligraphy with the public!

Mervin expressed that he was deeply honoured to be invited by NTW and HRD Corp to serve as a representative for the promotion and education of Chinese calligraphy at this grand event. He hopes to bring tradition into everyday life and make art an integral part of culture through the strokes of calligraphy. Calligraphy is not merely an artistic form of writing but also a crystallization of profound Chinese cultural wisdom, embodying historical richness and humanistic spirit.

Representing Southern University College, Mervin actively promoted cross-cultural exchange and learning at the event. Through teaching calligraphy, he aimed to inspire public interest in Chinese art and to strengthen integration and interaction among Malaysia’s multicultural society.

本校中文系在读硕士生陈维浤同学受邀参与由马来西亚国家人力资源部主办、于 2025年5月13日(星期二) 在 新山 AEON Tebrau City 购物中心举办的全国培训周(NTW)Learn On-The-Go 活动,并在现场与大众分享 汉字书法的魅力与知识!

陈同学表示,非常荣幸受到 NTW 及 HRD Corp 的邀请,在本次盛会中担任 汉字书法推广与教育的代表。他希望通过书法的笔触,让传统走进生活,让艺术成为文化。书法不仅仅是文字的艺术呈现,更是中华文化深厚智慧的结晶,承载着历史的韵味与人文的精神。

在此次活动中,他代表南方大学学院,积极促进跨文化的交流与学习。希望借由书法教学,启发大众对中华艺术的兴趣,同时加强马来西亚多元文化之间的融合与互动。
