On 22nd November 2025, students from DECA2023 Creative Activities for Young Children and DELC3003 Leadership in Childhood Education, under the Department of Education at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, recently enjoyed an enriching field trip to Malay Culture Village, where they had the opportunity to explore cultural heritage through hands-on learning experiences.
Students from DECA2023 Creative Activities for Young Children having an opportunity to explore with Batik Printing. Guided by the local tour guide, they learned traditional techniques such as applying vibrant dyes to create colourful patterns. This activity allowed students to develop creativity, fine motor skills, and cultural appreciation which they can later adapt for classroom activities with young children.
Besides, the students from DELC3003 Leadership in Childhood Education having an opportunity to practice with leadership skills. Within the field trip, they are able to assisting their peers during the field trip, facilitate group coordination, and providing gentle guidance and encouragement throughout the session.
Beyond Batik Printing, the field trip provided students with a rich variety of hands-on experience to explore different aspects of Malay heritage which are Roti Canai, Teh Tarik, Wedding Gallery, Wayang Kulit, Pewter Casting, and Traditional Malay Dance. These interactive stations deepened their cultural understanding and offered meaningful insights into activities that they can introduce to young children in early childhood settings.
Overall, it is a memorable day. The trip was filled with colour, creativity, and cultural appreciation which is an experience that has enriched both academic and personal growth.
马来文化村参访活动
2025年11月22日,人文与社会科学学院教育系的《DECA2023: 幼儿创意活动》课程与《DELC3003: 幼儿教育领导力》课程的学生前往马来文化村进行了一次富有收获的参访活动,让学生们有机会透过实践式体验马来文化村的独特魅力。
来自《DECA2023: 幼儿创意活动》课程的学生参与了蜡染制作体验。在当地导游的指导下,她们学习了传统的蜡染技巧,如使用鲜艳燃料创作多彩图案。此活动不仅培养了学生的创意与精细动作能力,也提升了她们对文化艺术的欣赏,并为未来与幼儿进行课堂活动提供了宝贵灵感。
此外,来自《DELC3003: 幼儿教育领导力》课程的学生也在参访过程中实践了领导能力。她们在活动中协助同伴,促进团队协调,并在整个过程中给予适当的指导与鼓励,展现了良好的领导与合作精神。
除了蜡染体验,此次参访还为学生提供了多项体验站,让她们更加深入了解了马来文化的不同面向,包括制作拉饼、拉茶示范、婚礼展馆、皮影戏、锡器铸造以及传统马来舞蹈。这些互动式体验加深了学生对文化的理解,也为她们未来在幼儿教育中融入文化学习。
总体而言,这是一次难忘的学习之旅。整趟参访充满了色彩,创意与文化体验,不仅丰富了学生的学术视野,也促进了个人成长。
