The “Kurikulum Prasekolah 2026” Teacher Training Programme, organised by Southern University College in collaboration with Persatuan Guru-Guru Tadika Negeri Johor, was successfully held from 7 to 9 November 2025 at Southern University College. This three-day, 24-hour professional development course brought together a total of 66 kindergarten teachers from Johor and various parts of Malaysia. Their enthusiastic participation demonstrated the preschool community’s strong commitment to understanding and preparing for the implementation of the new 2026 Preschool Curriculum.
The training aimed to help early childhood educators deepen their understanding of the 2026 Preschool Curriculum Framework and strengthen their ability to design appropriate daily learning activities. It also focused on enhancing teachers’ competency in assessing children’s learning progress and planning suitable remediation and extension activities based on their needs. Delivered in both English and Mandarin, the sessions ensured accessibility and engagement for all participants.
Throughout the programme, teachers explored the curriculum’s structure, key learning domains, and practical ways to translate the new guidelines into classroom practice. The lecturers incorporated demonstrations of activity planning, discussions on holistic development, and hands-on examples that enabled participants to apply the concepts effectively in real teaching scenarios. The interactive nature of the training created a lively learning atmosphere and encouraged meaningful exchanges among educators.
The programme was led by two KAP trainers, Lecturer Siaw Chee Hong and Lecturer Rachel Lee Swee Peng, whose expertise and experience greatly enriched the learning experience. Special appreciation is extended to Lecturer Chen Lee Wan from Southern University College and Miss Jenny Mok from the Persatuan Guru-Guru Tadika Negeri Johor for their excellent coordination and support throughout the event.
Madam Cheong Siew Ngo, the president of the Persatuan Guru-Guru Tadika Johor, attended an event and presented souvenirs to Ms Anitha, the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Southern University College, and to all the trainers.
Participants who completed the full programme received certificates officially issued by NAPEI–MOE–BPSwasta, recognising their commitment to professional development in early childhood education. The organisers expressed their gratitude for the positive feedback and active engagement from teachers, noting that such dedication reflects the sector’s readiness to embrace the 2026 curriculum. Southern University College also thanked all partners and supporting units for their contributions to the success of this programme and for their continued efforts in enhancing the professionalism and quality of preschool education in Malaysia.
