Southern Creative Writing Competition 2025

The much-anticipated Southern Creative Writing Competition 2025 was successfully held at Southern University College on Saturday, July 19th, 2025.This year, the competition saw an impressive turnout, with a total of 155participants aged 16-19 comprised of SMK(s) and Chinese Independent Schools each bringing their unique voice and creativity to the event.

Before the competition began, lecturers from the Division also held a brief yet insightful sharing session about the two English programmes offered at Southern University College, including the Diploma in English Language and the Bachelor of Arts (Honours)English Language Teaching. This session provided valuable academic insights to the high school participants. Adding to the vibrant atmosphere, students from the Student Society of Division of English served as both emcees and helpful facilitators throughout the day.

Participants were challenged to craft flash fiction pieces (500-800 words) based on diverse themes, which provided a rich canvas for students to explore and express their ideas, resulting in a compelling and thought-provoking array of stories

Participants were treated to well-deserved goodie bags which included brochures with the details of the programs offered along with souvenirs, as a token of appreciation for their efforts.
