Southern University College is proud and honored to announce our official invitation to join the prestigious League of Tropical Universities (LTU), initiated by Hainan University, China. This milestone marks a significant step forward in our global engagement and commitment to academic excellence in tropical research and development.
Prof. ChM. Dr. Leong Loong Kong, Vice President (Academic) and Asst. Prof. Ts. Dr. Teo Pei Kian, Vice President (Research & Innovation) were invited to attend the League of Tropical Universities 2025 Summit (13-16 April 2025), hosted by Hainan University — located in China’s only tropical province.
The League was officially launched in November 2023, spearheaded by Hainan University in collaboration with seven globally renowned institutions, including: Universiti Malaya (Malaysia), Universiti Teknologi Petronas (Malaysia), Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences (China), Cairo University (Egypt), University of São Paulo (Brazil), Institut Teknologi Bandung (Indonesia), and Chulalongkorn University (Thailand).
As of 13 April 2025, the League has grown to 101 universities and research institutions from 41 countries and regions, creating a vibrant network that transcends borders, fosters multicultural collaboration, and contributes meaningfully to global ecological sustainability and socio-economic development. Southern UC is proud to announce our membership in the League of Tropical Universities (LTU).
During the summit, Southern UC forged valuable connections with institutions from China, Thailand, Mexico, Brazil, Cambodia and beyond. Preliminary collaboration discussions were also initiated with Hainan University and Guizhou Normal University, laying the groundwork for future academic exchanges and joint research initiatives.
We look forward to actively contributing to the League’s vision and strengthening our role in addressing the challenges and opportunities in tropical regions around the world.
南方大学学院荣幸宣布加入“热区高校联盟”（League of Tropical Universities, LTU）
南方大学学院荣幸宣布，我们已正式受邀加入由中国海南大学发起的“热带大学联盟”（LTU）。这一重要里程碑标志着我校在全球交流与热带研究发展方面迈出了坚实的一步，也彰显了我们在学术卓越追求中的持续承诺。
南方大学学院副校长（学术）梁龙光教授 和副校长（研究与创新）赵佩娟助理教授 受邀出席在中国唯一热带省份——海南省举办的2025年热带大学联盟峰会。
热带大学联盟于2023年11月正式启动，由海南大学牵头，联合全球七所知名高校与科研机构共同发起，包括：马来西亚马来亚大学、马来西亚国油大学、中国热带农业科学院、埃及开罗大学、巴西圣保罗大学、印度尼西亚万隆理工学院 和泰国朱拉隆功大学。
截至2025年4月13日，热带大学联盟（LTU）已发展至来自41个国家和地区的101所大学和研究机构，形成了一个充满活力的网络，超越国界，促进多元文化合作，并为全球生态可持续性与社会经济发展作出有意义的贡献。南方大学学院（Southern UC）自豪地宣布正式加入热带大学联盟。
在峰会期间，南方大学学院与来自中国、泰国、墨西哥、巴西、柬埔寨等国家的多所高校建立了良好联系，并与海南大学及贵州师范大学开展了合作洽谈，为今后的学术交流与联合研究奠定了坚实基础。
我们期待积极参与联盟的愿景建设，并在全球热带地区的发展挑战与机遇中持续发挥建设性作用。
