As the digital media landscape evolves, Dr. Mohammed Fadel Arandas, Assistant Professor in Journalism and Communication Studies, has joined 288 academic signatories from 45 countries advocating for academic freedom in Digital Journalism Studies.<\/p>\n

The initiative appears in an editorial in the Digital Journalism (Scopus Q1 journal), titled “Defending Academic Freedom in Digital Journalism Studies: The Community Standing Up for the Field, the Scholarship, and the Scholars.” It addresses the erosion of academic freedom and its implications for journalism research and democratic societies.<\/p>\n

The publication calls on scholars to safeguard independent research, uphold rigorous inquiry, and protect researchers from censorship and political interference. This global coalition reflects a unified response to challenges in communication and media research, emphasizing collective action to preserve knowledge production integrity.<\/p>\n
