The Chingay Research Project is led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Bak Jia How under a formal Research Collaboration Agreement between Southern University College (SUC) and the National Heritage Board (NHB) of Singapore, with support from the Department of National Heritage (JWN) of Malaysia. The project aims to document the origins, historical sources, and heritage value of the Chingay tradition in both countries.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Ms Lah Wan Yee, Head of the Department of Journalism and Communication Studies at Southern University College, was appointed as an enumerator for the project. From 6 to 10 March 2026, she led students from the Bachelor of Communication (Honours) (Mass Communication) programme to document the Johor Chingay 2026 celebrations. The team conducted extensive photography and video recording of festival activities, cultural performances, and ritual practices associated with the Chingay procession.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Under Ms Lah\u2019s supervision, students also conducted and documented professional interviews with key stakeholders, including community leaders, organizers, participants, and representatives from cultural associations. The collected materials will contribute to the production of a documentary on Johor Chingay, which will support the research project and contribute to safeguard this living heritage, which is in the process of seeking inscription on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Several students who are currently undergoing industrial internship placements with media organizations also participated in the documentation, providing professional media coverage of the event.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\u7814\u7a76\u9879\u76ee \u201c\u65b0\u52a0\u5761\u4e0e\u9a6c\u6765\u897f\u4e9a\u591a\u5143\u6587\u5316\u5986\u827a\u5927\u6e38\u884c\/\u67d4\u4f5b\u53e4\u5e99\u6e38\u795e\u201d \u7531\u83ab\u5bb6\u6d69\u52a9\u7406\u6559\u6388\u9886\u5bfc\uff0c\u5728\u5357\u65b9\u5927\u5b66\u5b66\u9662\u4e0e\u65b0\u52a0\u5761\u56fd\u5bb6\u6587\u7269\u5c40\u7b7e\u7f72\u7684\u6b63\u5f0f\u7814\u7a76\u5408\u4f5c\u534f\u8bae\u6846\u67b6\u4e0b\u5f00\u5c55\uff0c\u5e76\u83b7\u5f97\u9a6c\u6765\u897f\u4e9a\u56fd\u5bb6\u9057\u4ea7\u5c40\u7684\u652f\u6301\u3002\u8be5\u9879\u76ee\u65e8\u5728\u8bb0\u5f55\u548c\u7814\u7a76\u65b0\u52a0\u5761\u4e0e\u9a6c\u6765\u897f\u4e9a\u5986\u827a\u5927\u6e38\u884c\/\u67d4\u4f5b\u53e4\u5e99\u6e38\u795e\u4f20\u7edf\u7684\u5386\u53f2\u8d77\u6e90\u3001\u6587\u732e\u6765\u6e90\u53ca\u5176\u6587\u5316\u9057\u4ea7\u4ef7\u503c\u3002<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\u5357\u65b9\u5927\u5b66\u5b66\u9662\u65b0\u95fb\u4e0e\u4f20\u64ad\u5b66\u7cfb\u4e3b\u4efb\u6797\u5a49\u4eea\u9ad8\u7ea7\u8bb2\u5e08\u53d7\u59d4\u4e3a\u8be5\u7814\u7a76\u9879\u76ee\u7684\u8c03\u67e5\u5458\u30022026\u5e743\u67086\u65e5\u81f310\u65e5\u671f\u95f4\uff0c\u5979\u5e26\u9886\u7740\u5927\u4f17\u4f20\u64ad\uff08\u8363\u8a89\uff09\u5b66\u58eb\u8bfe\u7a0b\u7684\u5b66\u751f\uff0c\u5bf9 2026\u5e74\u67d4\u4f5b\u53e4\u5e99\u6e38\u795e \u6d3b\u52a8\u8fdb\u884c\u7cfb\u7edf\u6027\u8bb0\u5f55\u4e0e\u8d44\u6599\u6536\u96c6\u3002\u56e2\u961f\u901a\u8fc7\u6444\u5f71\u4e0e\u5f55\u50cf\u7684\u65b9\u5f0f\uff0c\u5168\u9762\u8bb0\u5f55\u8282\u5e86\u6d3b\u52a8\u3001\u6587\u5316\u8868\u6f14\u4ee5\u53ca\u4e0e\u6e38\u795e\u4eea\u5f0f\u76f8\u5173\u7684\u4f20\u7edf\u4e60\u4fd7\u3002<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
