Mass Communication Students Attend the Movie Premiere of Mother Bhumi

On 11 May 2026, award-winning director Chong Keat Aun joined internationally acclaimed actress Fan Bingbing and cast members Bai Run-Yin, Natalie Hsu and Pearlly Chua for the special appearance of “Mother Bhumi”. The Head of the Department of Journalism and Communication Studies, Senior Lecturer Lah Wan Yee, led students interested in film and photography to attend the event, where they experienced the lively atmosphere, witnessed fans’ enthusiasm, and enjoyed seeing the actors up close, especially the excitement surrounding Fan Bingbing’s appearance.

After the promotional session, the lecturer and students stayed to watch the movie premiere of “Mother Bhumi”. The film combines the landscape of Malaysia’s border villages, elements of folk beliefs, and delicate human stories, reflecting strong local cultural characteristics and a distinctive cinematic aesthetic. “Mother Bhumi” has also received attention and recognition at several international film festivals, showcasing the cultural depth and artistic appeal of Malaysian cinema to the world.
