On 4th September 2025, Southern University College (SUC) had the honour of hosting a group of teachers and students from Paragon Private & International School for an educational visit to our Broadcast Studio located at IEB Level 2. The visit was organised with the intention of exposing participants to the field of Mass Communication and providing them with an engaging, hands-on learning experience. It was also a meaningful platform to strengthen collaboration between SUC and Paragon Private & International School in nurturing future talent.
The programme began with a warm welcome address by our Dean, Ms. Anitha, who graciously officiated the event. She expressed her appreciation to the school for their keen interest in exploring the world of media and communications, while also highlighting the importance of developing media literacy and communication skills among the younger generation. Her remarks set the tone for the visit, inspiring students to take full advantage of the activities prepared.
Participants were then given the opportunity to tour and experience the facilities available in the broadcast studio. With the guidance of our experienced lecturer, Mr. Joekryno, the students and teachers were introduced to the fundamental elements of broadcasting and journalism. They learned about the technical aspects of cameras, lighting, sound systems, and teleprompters, gaining an understanding of how each component contributes to professional media production.
The highlight of the visit was the series of interactive and practical activities conducted in the studio. Students enthusiastically took part in a news presentation simulation, where they roleplayed as news anchors delivering short segments in front of the camera. Others had the chance to operate broadcast cameras and experiment with shot framing and angles, while some explored the control room to observe how sound mixing and live production are coordinated. These hands-on experiences were complemented by lively group activities, including mock interviews and short skit recordings, which created an enjoyable learning environment and encouraged teamwork and creativity.
All teachers expressed their appreciation for the programme, noting how it opened the students’ eyes to the possibilities within the field of Mass Communication. The visit not only provided valuable exposure but also sparked curiosity and excitement, motivating many of the students to consider media and communications as a potential area of future study.
The event concluded with a group photo session to commemorate the occasion. Special thanks are also due to Mr. Joekryno for his dedication and guidance, which made the learning process both enriching and enjoyable. Overall, the visit by Paragon Private & International School to SUC’s Broadcast Studio was a memorable and fruitful event. It succeeded in creating a balance between fun and learning while providing meaningful insights into the dynamic world of Mass Communication.

2025年9月4日，南方大学学院有幸接待来自典范私立国际学校的一行师生，前来我校广播电视演播室进行参访。本次活动旨在让师生接触大众传播领域，体验生动且具实践性的学习过程，同时也成为南方大学学院与典范私立国际学校加强合作、共同培育未来人才的有意义平台。
活动首先由人文与社会科学院院长 Anitha 女士致欢迎词并主持开幕。她对该校积极探索媒体与传播领域表示感谢，并强调提升年轻一代媒介素养与沟通能力的重要性。她的致辞为整个参访活动定下积极的基调，鼓励学生们充分把握各项学习与体验的机会。
随后，参与者在我校讲师 Joekryno先生的带领下，参观并体验了演播室的各项设施。师生们学习到广播与新闻学的基本要素，深入了解摄影机、灯光、音响系统与提词器等技术设备，并掌握它们在专业媒体制作中的作用。
活动的亮点是一系列互动与实践环节。学生们积极参与新闻播报模拟，扮演新闻主播在镜头前进行简短播报。部分学生尝试操作广播摄影机，体验取景与角度调整；另一些则走进控制室，观察音效混音与现场制作的协调过程。除了这些操作体验，现场还安排了小组活动，包括模拟访谈与短剧录制，为学生营造了轻松有趣的学习氛围，同时培养团队合作与创造力。
所有随行教师均对本次参访表示高度赞赏，认为活动不仅拓宽了学生的视野，更激发了他们对大众传播领域的兴趣与好奇心，激励不少学生考虑未来在传媒与传播专业继续深造。
活动最后以大合照作结，留下珍贵的纪念。同时也特别感谢 Joekryno 先生的悉心指导，使学习过程既充实又愉快。总体而言，典范私立国际学校此次参访南方大学学院的电视台是一场难忘而富有成果的活动，成功实现了寓教于乐，并为学生提供了深入了解大众传播动态世界的宝贵机会。
