FHSS Researchers Present Paper on Heritage-Based Media Education at 7th Asia-Pacific International Conference on Arts, Culture & Humanities

Three researchers from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, namely Ms Lah Wan Yee, Asst. Prof. Dr. Bambang Suhartono Bin Mohd Said, and Asst. Prof. Dr. New Kuwi Hoi, presented a research paper entitled “Bridging Heritage and Industry: Building Media Skills Through Cultural Events in the AI Era” at the 7th Asia-Pacific International Conference on Arts, Culture & Humanities held on 20 May 2026 at Southern University College. The presentation highlighted the importance of integrating cultural heritage activities into media education to enhance students’ practical competencies and industry readiness in the era of artificial intelligence.

The study examined how heritage-based experiential learning contributes to the development of media students’ practical skills, cultural literacy, identity formation, and professional ethics through their participation in the Chinese Cultural Heritage Festival and Visit Johor Year launching event at Johor Bahru. The researchers emphasized that involvement in cultural events provides students with valuable hands-on experience in media production, communication, teamwork, and community engagement while strengthening appreciation for local heritage and cultural diversity.

人文与社会科学学院三位研究人员,林婉仪高级讲师、Dr. Bambang Suhartono助理教授以及梁桂花助理教授于2026年5月20日在南方大学学院举办的第七届亚太艺术、文化与人文国际研讨会上发表题为《连接文化遗产与产业：人工智能时代通过文化活动培养媒体技能》）的研究论文。该研究分享了将文化遗产活动融入媒体教育的重要性，以提升学生在人工智能时代下的实践能力与行业竞争力。

该研究探讨了以文化遗产为基础的体验式学习，如何通过学生参与马来西亚华人文化遗产节以及“柔佛旅游年”活动，提升媒体学生的实践技能、文化素养、身份认同及专业伦理意识。研究人员指出，参与文化活动能够让学生获得媒体制作、传播沟通、团队合作及社区参与等宝贵实践经验，同时加强他们对本地文化遗产与多元文化价值的认识与欣赏。
