Distinguished Guest Series Inspires Future Media Professionals

As part of the 20th Anniversary Celebration of the Department of Journalism and Communication Studies, Southern University College was honoured to welcome Mr. Tan Chia Yong, Founder of Oyeah Media Sdn. Bhd. and a renowned news anchor with 29 years of experience in broadcasting and media production, on 7 July 2026.

Mr. Tan shared his inspiring journey of pursuing his dream and building a successful media career, while offering valuable insights into today’s evolving media landscape. Students from the Diploma in Journalism and Bachelor of Communication (Honours) (Mass Communication) programmes gained first-hand exposure to industry practices in storytelling, content development, and screen production.

The session also explored the growing role of AI in media, reminding students that while technology continues to evolve, credibility, ethics, and professional integrity remain the foundation of quality journalism.

陈先生也探讨了人工智能（AI）对媒体产业带来的机遇与挑战，并强调在科技迅速发展的时代，新闻真实性、公信力、媒体伦理与专业精神始终是优质新闻工作的核心价值。
