2026 International Symposium on Traditional Medicine Research

From July 9 to 11, 2026, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lim Juat Hong, Dean of the Faculty of Chinese Medicine at Southern University College was invited to Tianjin to attend the “2026 International Symposium on Traditional Medicine Research.” The conference brought together top-tier research talent from home and abroad. Led by Zhang Boli, an Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and Gao Xiumei, President of Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), the event featured in-depth discussions and knowledge sharing among experts and scholars from institutions such as Tianjin University of TCM (including Vice President Qiu Feng), Southern University College (Malaysia), the University of Ghana, the University of Traditional Medicine (Vietnam), and Thammasat University (Thailand).

The conference aimed to deepen international exchange and practical cooperation in the field of traditional medicine, pool cutting-edge global insights, and drive the high-quality development of TCM. Focusing on the modernization and internationalization of traditional medicine—and grounded in the deep integration of basic research with industrial application—the event sought to facilitate the transition of TCM from merely “going global” to achieving high-quality advancement. It also aimed to help build a comprehensive innovation ecosystem spanning the entire “resource-research-product-application” chain, thereby providing robust support for the high-quality development and international innovation of TCM. At the conference, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lim Juat Hong presented an overview of the development of indigenous Malaysian TCM herbs and the relevant JAKIM Halal standards. This international event provided a platform to engage with scholars from various universities, corporate representatives, and researchers, facilitating discussions on integrating high-quality cross-border resources across industry, academia, and research, as well as exploring innovative pathways and implementation models for the modernization and global expansion of proprietary Chinese medicines.

2026年7月9-11日，南方大学学院中医药学院院长林悦鸿副教授受邀赴天津参与召开《2026传统药物研究国际研讨会》。 大会汇聚海内外顶尖科研力量，由中国工程院院士张伯礼、天津中医药大学校长高秀梅领衔，天津中医药大学副校长邱峰、马来西亚南方大学学院、加纳大学、越南传统医药大学、泰国国立政法大学等国内外高校与科研机构专家学者开展专题研讨与深度分享。

会议在深化传统药物领域国际交流与务实合作，全面凝聚全球传统医药行业前沿智慧，推动中医药高质量发展，聚焦传统药物现代化与国际化发展，立足基础研究与产业应用深度融合，助力中医药从初步“走出去”向高质量“走上去”进阶升级，助力构建传统药物“资源-研究-产品-应用”全链条创新体系，为中医药高质量发展与国际化创新提供坚实支撑。在会上，林悦鸿院长重点分享了《马来西亚本土中草药发展》的概况，以及相关中草药的JAKIM清真规范，通过本次国际盛会，与各高校学者、企业代表、科研人员齐聚交流，共同研讨如何整合跨国产学研优质资源以及中成药现代化出海的创新路径与落地模式。
